CET Graduation Level 2026 — the paper, and the 14 syllabus headings

150 questions, 300 marks, three hours, one-third negative marking and five circles, straight from advertisement 09/2026 — plus the fourteen syllabus headings and the honest answer on per-subject question counts.

Update — 23 September 2026: the exam date has changed. The pattern and syllabus below are unchanged; only the date is awaited.

Two things have to be settled before the first hour of study: what the paper looks like, and where the syllabus stops. Neither is a matter of opinion — both are printed in RSSB advertisement 09/2026. What follows is that document, and nothing added to it.

The paper (para 17)

• 150 questions, 300 marks, 3 hours. Every subject sits in one paper.
• All questions are objective and carry equal marks. Divide 300 marks by 150 questions and each one is worth 2 marks.
• Negative marking is one-third of a question's marks for every wrong answer — two-thirds of a mark, 0.67, on this paper.
• Five circles per question: A, B, C, D and E. E means "question not attempted". A question with no circle darkened at all also loses one-third of the marks; 10 extra minutes are given at the end for darkening E; and a candidate who leaves more than 10% of questions with no circle darkened is disqualified. The date

The board's chairman has said the exam is being put back because of the local body and panchayat elections (press report, 22 September 2026). The board has issued no written notification of a new date, so none is given here — this post will be updated as soon as one appears.

"How many questions from each subject?"

The advertisement does not say. Para 17 gives the totals, the syllabus pages give fourteen headings, and the board publishes nothing in between. A number written against a subject name is an estimate someone has drawn from an older paper, not an announcement. So plan on the only thing the advertisement commits to: any of the fourteen headings can be examined.

The fourteen headings

1. History of India and Rajasthan (with special reference to the Indian National Movement) — the reform movements of the 19th and 20th centuries, the phases and fighters of the freedom struggle, Rajasthan in 1857, its tribal, peasant and Praja Mandal movements, and the Integration of Rajasthan.

2. History, Art, Culture, Literature, Traditions and Heritage of Rajasthan — Kalibangan, Ahar, Ganeshwar, Balathal and Bairath, rulers and their revenue systems, forts, painting and handicraft, dialects and literature, fairs, festivals, folk music and dance, saints and folk deities.

3. Geography of India — relief, climate and the monsoon, rivers, dams, lakes and oceans, wildlife, crops, minerals, energy, industry, transport, population, and disaster management and climate change.

4. Geography of Rajasthan — physiographic divisions, climate, drainage and water conservation, vegetation, wildlife, soils, Rabi and Kharif crops, population, tribes, minerals, energy, tourism and transport.

5. Indian political system with special reference to Rajasthan — the Constituent Assembly and Dr Ambedkar's role, the Constitution's features and amendments, the President, Prime Minister, Parliament and Supreme Court, the national commissions, and Rajasthan's machinery from the Governor down to Panchayati Raj.

6. Economy of India — budget making, banking, public finance, GST, national income, fiscal and monetary policy, subsidies and the public distribution system, e-commerce, the major sectors, the Green, White and Blue revolutions, planning, and the reform era.

7. Economy of Rajasthan — crops, irrigation and river-valley projects, drought-prone area development, agro-based and mineral-based industry, handicraft, poverty and unemployment with the current flagship schemes, cooperatives, Panchayati Raj in rural development, MGNREGA and VB-G RAM G.

8. Science and Technology — physical and chemical change, acids and salts, electric current, heat and energy, nutrition, blood groups and the Rh factor, disease, environment and biodiversity, agriculture and animal husbandry with special reference to Rajasthan, ICT, and defence and space technology.

9. Logical reasoning and Mathematics — blood relations, series, clock, calendar and analytical ability, plus school mathematics from roots, quadratics and logarithms through percentage, interest, time-speed-distance, mensuration and trigonometry to mean, median, mode and data graphs.

10. Current Events and Civic Duty — contemporary state, national and international events, famous personalities, programmes and policies, Fundamental Duties and moral values, and the Rajasthan Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022.

11. Public Health — first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the types of drug abuse and how they are prevented, physical and mental fitness of the young, and the health risks of social media addiction.

12. Computer Knowledge — what computers do, operating systems, the Internet and e-mail, memory (RAM, ROM), file systems, input and output devices, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, cyber security, e-services and artificial intelligence.

13. Language Knowledge — General English — articles and determiners, tenses, voice, narration, prepositions, translation both ways with Hindi, synonyms and antonyms, comprehension, the official glossary with its Hindi versions, the structure of letters, idioms and one-word substitution.

14. General Hindi — the parts of speech, संधि, समास, उपसर्ग and प्रत्यय, विलोम, पर्यायवाची and अनेकार्थक words, विराम चिह्न, पारिभाषिक शब्दावली, शब्द and वाक्य शुद्धि, मुहावरे and लोकोक्तियाँ, the constitutional position of राजभाषा हिन्दी, and the office correspondence forms.

Where that leaves you

The scheme is small enough to memorise: 150 questions, 300 marks, three hours, one-third off for a wrong answer, five circles on every question.
